FULL Moonrise Behind the Spinnaker Tower

Join us for an enchanting evening of photography as we witness the captivating full moonrise over the stunning Portsmouth Skyline from Gosport. This event promises a mesmerizing experience that photographers and nature enthusiasts alike won't want to miss.

As the day transitions into twilight, the sun will gracefully set in the opposite sky, casting a warm glow over the landscape. This magical moment will set the stage for the main event: the full moonrise against the backdrop of the iconic Spinnaker Tower.

Renowned photographer, Andy Hornby, known for his remarkable photography skills, has meticulously calculated the precise location to capture this breathtaking phenomenon. Andy intends to create a stunning timelapse that will forever immortalize the moon's ascent through the Spinnaker Tower's sails as the cityscape below gradually comes to life with twinkling lights.

Our schedule for the day is as follows:

• 2:00 PM: We will convene at the designated meeting point - https://w3w.co/slows.hopes.silks
• 3:15 PM: We will be set up and prepared for the moon's ascent.
• 4:00 PM: As the sun dips below the horizon, we will witness the moon rising through the Spinnaker Tower Sail.

While we hope for clear skies to enhance this celestial spectacle, even a partially clouded sky can add a unique dimension to your photographs. So, remember to bring your cameras, tripods, and any other equipment you need to capture this incredible moment.

This free photography photo walk is an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow photographers, learn from Andy Hornby's expertise, and create stunning memories. Open to all - Sign up for a FREE ticket, through the link  - This is not a workshop (See other Events for Paid Workshops), so no direct tuition will be given on the photo walk. However, Andy will be on hand to guide you towards great compositions and settings required to get that perfect shot.

What's included;

• Guidance provided throughout the walk, on both a one to one and group basis (depending on numbers), to maximise your potential.

Essential Gear;

• Camera and lenses - doesn't matter what you have. I can work with most camera manufacturers (I use Canon and Sony - So I will know more about them). If you have a wide angle lens, that would be beneficial.
• Tripod - Definitely essential. Most landscape images will require long exposure, and you'll need something to stand your camera on, to leave running.
• Food or means to buy food (This is not supplied) - snacks and water.

Not so essential gear;

• Off camera shutter release - this is beneficial (essential if you have to go over 30 sec exposure) as it is getting dark, you will need to up your shutter time.
• Filters - If you have any, bring them. If it's not dark enough and you want a long exposure, Bring an ND.

Anything else is a bonus.

Parking is NOT free. There are plenty of car parks and road parking close to the event. 

We will be walking some distance. Please make sure you have good walking shoes and wrap up in case the weather is bad.
