Milky Way Workshop (Durdle Door) 5/10/18

This is a Portfolio Building Workshop

Milky Way photography is one of the most challenging quests, that all Landscape Photographers aspire to. The number of factors, that must be taken into account, vastly outnumber that of any other type of photography. The conditions need to be absolutely right. This workshop will teach you all of these aspects and give you the insight to take the information on to other locations, and get that perfect shot.

I intend to leave Fareham at 19:00 - there is room in my car for 4 people, so feel free to ask for a lift - you'll just need to get to Fareham, Cams Hall Estate - parking is free there, if you need to leave your car. We will be outside the camp site for about 9ish.

There are only 8 places on this workshop to keep the numbers to a manageable level. We will be going very near to the cliff edge and I want to stay as safe as possible. Smaller numbers will enable me to keep an eye on you all and have more time for one-to-one discussions.

This workshop also includes a one hour session on the Sunday (location to be arranged), where I will go through the essential post processing that you will need to do, to make the shots look amazing.

What's included;

• An introduction to Milky Way Photography and the principles of how to set your camera up.
• An explanation of how I prepare and what apps I use to maximise the potential of that perfect Milky Way Shot.
• Tuition and guidance provided throughout the event, on both a one to one and group basis, to maximise your potential.
• You leave with full understanding of the settings used and have the ability to replicate the same elsewhere.

Essential Gear;

• Camera and lenses - If you have a fast wide angle lens, that would be beneficial. Anything over 50mm will be a huge struggle, so try and keep it wider.
• Tripod - Definitely essential. Required for long exposure photography. .
• Off camera shutter release - this is essential if you have to go over 30 sec exposure.
• Food or means to buy food (This is not supplied on the Workshop) - bring snacks and water.

Anything else is a bonus.

Parking is free on the road. We will be walking about about 1.5 miles, and it may get cold, so wear appropriate clothing and shoes - walking boots may be beneficial and bring a torch.

Disclaimer

Clearly, this workshop is dependant on the weather. However, even if it is slightly cloudy, we will still be doing this workshop. The principles of this type of photography can be taught, even if the sky is slightly cloudy. If the weather is going to too bad (very cloudy, or worse), the workshop will be postponed and you can either have your money back, or transfer the funds to the next one.
